Ange da Costa is a German African - or an African German? Definitions don’t matter to artists like him. Born in Angola, raised in Willebadessen, studied in London, now there is just one thing in Berlin that counts in Ange da Costa’s life: the music.

Cosmopolitan, but unique at the same time, his fusion of African melodies, urban pop and Afro-American soul resonates. Ange da Costa plays multilingual music without having the label „World Music“ attached to it instantly. He sings in English, French, German and Lingala and also speaks these languages fluently. Mixing African melodies with German lyrics and a French chorus, he causes the specific nationality to become invisible in favor of music.
Ange da Costa takes us along on a journey through his dreams, concerns and desires, from Berlin to Kinshasa. He moves between the cultures like an acrobat who is jumping skillfully from one identity to another. Yet this jumping remains unseen, it’s rather gliding, almost flying. Languages, concepts and musical styles merge in his songs as if it were the most natural thing, and its meaning becomes accessible with unmistakable transparency.
On stage, Ange da Costa is a whirling center of energy. In fancy outfits and with a strong presence, he demands the utmost from his band, but the sound of his distinctive voice remains always authentic and touches the heart. Ange wants to reach all people who love music. They are supposed to rediscover their own experiences in his songs, recognize themselves and see themselves in a mirror.
